Coup de Boule Paroles

So, the lyrics for the "Coup de Boule" Zidane song, by La Plage Records

powered by ODEO

On a quand même bien rigolé

Barthez n'a rien arreté

On a quand meme bien rigolé
Zidane et Trezeguet
La coupe on l'a ratée
Zidane et Trezeguet (2x)
Et Trezeguet...et Trezeguet...et Trezeguet guet guet
Trezeguet
(Coup de boule, coup de boule)
et Trezeguet
(Coup de boule, coup de boule)
et Trezeguet
(Coup de boule, coup de boule)
et Trezeguet
(Coup de boule, coup de boule)
TrezeguetDodgy English translation to follow... ***edit*** My own English translation, take it with a grain of salt.

***2nd EDIT: I am cool with anyone cutting and pasting this in their own blogs or webpages, but make sure to give me credit and to link back! Thank you! I have also changed the line about Chirac given the comments.***

***3rd EDIT: For those teachers using this in their lesson plans, or for all those who are coming through BlackBoard links, I'm really curious to know how it's working out. Please comment or drop me a line. Thanks :)***

Etienne's Translation of "Coup de Boule" lyrics:
Watch out, it's the headbutt dance!
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the right
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the left
(Headbutt, headbutt)

Go Blues!
Go,
Zidane, he hit [him], Zidane, he slapped [him] (Headbutt!)* 4x

The guido, he was hurt
Zidane hit [him]
The Italian's not doing well
Zidane slapped [him]
The ref saw it on the TV
Zidane hit [him]
But we lost the World Cup
We had a good laugh anyways

Zidane, he hit [him], Zidane, he slapped [him] (Headbutt!) 4x

Trezeguet didn't play
When he played he sucked
He screwed up everything
We lost the World Cup
Barthez didn't stop anything
And it's not even complicated
The sponsers are all angry
But Chirac was eloquent spoke well

Zidane, he hit [him], Zidane, he slapped [him] (Headbutt!) 4x

Watch out, it's the headbutt dance!
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the right
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the left
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the front
(Headbutt, headbutt)
Headbutt to the back
(Headbutt, headbutt)

And now it's the penalty
Attention please, he's gonna shoot
One, two, three...he missed!

Zidane, he hit [him], Zidane, he slapped [him] (4x)

We had a good laugh anyways
Zidane and Trezeguet
We lost the World Cup
Zidane and Trezeguet (2x)

And Trezeguet...and Trezeguet...and Trezeguet-guet-guet
Trezeguet
(Headbutt, headbutt)
and Trezeguet
(Headbutt, headbutt)
and Trezeguet
(Headbutt, headbutt)
and Trezeguet
(Headbutt, headbutt)

*You can't really tell if it's "il l'a tapé" or "il a tapé"...R. said the latter and thus it goes, although given the original Zidane song is "Zidane y va marquer"...who knows. Explanations welcomed.

Hey, thanx for translating. My french is as good as my norwegian, which is non-existent, of course.

In here in Colombia, South America, ther'es also talk around the song. I cannot believe I heard it first on an all- rock radio station in Bogotá.

Fuckin' awesome, dude. *wink*

This is AWESOME! I big thanks from Orange County, California. I speak fairly decent French- I agree with your translation. Great job!

Awesome song ... made my day!!!!

It does sound like il l'a tapé il l'a frappé, definitely ..though it's nearly funnier the other way, as it's a childish way to speak

Hey-
Thanks for posting these. I've got the French lyrics on my own blog, and my translation isn't as good as yours. Could I perhaps snatch it, if I credit it?
Anyway, thanks a lot!

ROFLMAO, THANK YOU FROM NORTH AMERICA! Even Americans followed this story, believe it or not. I must now listen to this song all the way home, thank you for the translation! My French is bad but your English is very good.

Bravo!

Haha, thanks to a quick google search, I found these lyrics. They're really great, no matter how iffy. I've done the same things with German : )

The Trezeguet part is not accurately translated imho:
your translation " Trezeguet didn't play/When he played he sucked/He screwed up everything" is much harsher than the original which sounds more like "Trezeguet didn't play/ When he played he blundered/ He botched the whole thing

Just my 2 cents

What a lousy suck song! Oh, your blog sucks by the way!

When he did play he messed up
He made everything fall apart
We lost the cup

Whoever posted last, made the correction I was going to make. You translated the part "Mais Chirac a bien parlé" incorrectly and it should be "But Chirac spoke well". Anyways they cleared it up. Love the song, great post!

Zidane rocks!

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the lyrics. I listened over and over and could not quite get them all - and I am a French teacher! I'll play it for my high school students. hizou- "Guido" is slang for an Italian person and in the U.S. the word is considered derogatory.

This song is a hit in Toronto, Canada too! The tune is so catchy too... thanks a lot for the lyrics!

By the way, it's amazing how people from all over the world have posted their comments here.

Anonymous said...

Hehehehe. Rital = guido??
I'm pretty sure that's Henry's nickname. It's a reference to the run-in in the opening minutes of the game.

Anonymous said...

Oh yeah, his other nick name is l'anaconda ;)

Anonymous said...

Hmmm... I don't think the other comments went through. But I was thinking "riton" not "rital"... rital is just slang for italian, but I think guido is a more insulting english equivalent. I think i was just looking for an excuse to mention Henry.
